Download Airytec Switch Off. DShutDown is a small and portable shutdown tool that comes with quite a good amount of shut down types including other actions such as wake on LAN, alarm clock, lock workstation, hanging up modem, disable LAN adapter and etc. The good thing about DShutDown is it can automatically search for all online computers on your network and add it to the list. We failed to get the Install as Service option working because it kept on terminating by its own when it receives any shutdown command.
To shut down the computer that you have setup, run DShutdown. Once the remote computer has been added to the list, tick on the checkbox to select the PC, select the shutdown type and enter the password. To send the command, click the Enable Timer button where you are given 10 seconds to cancel the task. Download DShutDown. This is how you can give the user a few seconds to save their work before the computer shuts down.
This executes the command. Please save all work. If you receive a message that says Access Denied , make sure you are signed in to an administrative account and that you have administrative access to the target computer. See Method 3 to learn how to enable File and Printer Sharing on both computers and allow it through the Windows Firewall. If you are unable to connect to the registry on the target computer, see Method 4 to learn how to edit the registry on the target computer.
Method 2. This opens the Remote Shutdown Dialog window. Click Add. It's to the right of the "Computers" box. Type the IP address of the target computer s and click Ok.
The target computer is the computer you want to shut down or restart. If you are not sure what the Private IP address is for the target computer, you can find it using that computer. Choose if you want to shut down or restart a computer. Use the drop-down menu below "What do you want these computers to do" to select "Shutdown" or "Restart".
Type the number of seconds until the computer s shutdown Optional. Type a number in the box in the sentence "Display warning for [ ] seconds". This sets a timer for when the computer s shutdown. Select a reason for the shutdown Optional.
For example, "Hardware: Maintenance Planned ". Type a comment Optional. This will be displayed on the target computer. For example, "This computer will shut down in 60 seconds. Click Ok. This executes the Shutdown or Restart. Method 3. Open the Control Panel. Use the following steps to open the Control Panel. Click the Windows Start menu.
Type Control Panel. Click the Control Panel. Click Network and Internet. It's the green text next to an icon that resembles two computer screens in front of a globe.
Skip to the next step if you don't see this option. Click Network and Sharing Center. It's next to an icon that resembles four connected computers. Click Change advanced sharing settings. It's at the bottom of the sidebar to the left. Click the circular button next to Turn on network discovery. This enables network discovery. Click the radial button next to Turn on file and printer sharing. This enables file and printer sharing. See Method 3 to learn how to enable File and Printer Sharing on both computers and allow it through the Windows Firewall.

Check the settings on the Windows Firewall if you use it before continuing. Click the "Start" button in the lower-left corner of the screen and select "Control Panel. Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the changes. Shut down machines remotely from any computer on the network by clicking the Start button in the lower-left corner of your screen, selecting "All Programs," "Accessories" and then "Command Prompt.
Type the names of the computers you want to shut down in the "Computers" field at the top of the box, pressing "Add" after each. Choose whether you want to restart or shut down. If you want to warn users about the action, make sure a check mark appears in the box next to that option and select how long you want the warning to appear. If not, click the check mark to erase it.
